given how full the ERs are right now due to lack of staff, this is an especially infuriating story.
Yeah, this whole thing sucks balls.
Migri doing its what its best at, I’m not surprised if people don’t want to move here and choose another EU country.
Poor woman. I can’t imagine how whole process was stressful for her.
That is freaking horrible stuff.
It almost seems like the ones in charge don’t even want immigrants that integrate and contribute to society. 🤔
given Migri’s original purpose and institutional memory, I’d agree with eliminating it in favor of a new agency.
all they had to do was call the f—king hospital or set up a 20 minute skype call to the hospital to verify employment. but instead they play forensic financial detective … when its unnecessary and they’re as qualified to do that as to write missile employment tactics??
this makes me sad as when i was studying nursing, the “stopper” on my studies is that the local hospital didn’t want to take me cos of me not being 100% fluent in Finnish. (half the purpose of the early clinical work is to get practical language experience… i have a good reading and writing vocabulary base.. just need to hear it more).
but she was working in hospital even and still winds up not being able to stay? shesh…
“Migri, he reminded, was originally established specifically to prevent the entry of foreigners to Finland. ”

This sums it up all, right?
Although I had only positive interactions with Migri.
Well, that’s just Migri being Migri, being busy with [the labour sector](https://yle.fi/a/74-20007980) that truly matters. The link is about Migri dishing out residence permits for thai “masseurs”. You see, they generally don’t fall under labour protections because they’re self-employed, so there’s little control or monitoring resulting in human trafficking of sex workers.
And just to make sure, I’m not against sex workers or sex work, thai or otherwise, I’m against human trafficking.
my favorite detail is they wouldn’t even say what they think was forged.
