North Cork City to City Centre by E-Scooter

  1. As you can see I have to utilize a footpath for part of the trip for safety, fortunately it’s a very quite one and become a pedestrian myself when passing someone by dismounting.

The scooter has front and back lights and a break light, I added 8 pieces of reflective tape to it recently, I am using the RSA high viz reflective backpack cover and wearing a helmet.

I want to promote safe and responsible use of Scooters in Cork and help minimize the stigma around them that has been generated by people using them irresponsibly.

I added a dash cam to it because of the amount of drivers who break the rules of the road and nearly hit me by failing to indicate and checking their mirrors, running lights or crossing lines without yielding – If I get hit I would at least be able to show I wasn’t at fault.

  2. I’m in support of e-scooters but they don’t belong on footpaths. Even if it’s for safety, I know in this case it was a quiet path but in general they shouldn’t be allowed on paths.
