A similar incident nearly happened to my two dogs the other week. Thankfully my dad, who was walking them at the time, stopped the pitbull style dog getting a chance to bite them. He was close to booting the thing square in the ribs.
Poor doggo RIP 💔

Reading stories like this makes my blood boil.
My Staffie was killed by a XL Bully style breed in a similar incident.
I want to be fucking clear before you all start, because the usual suspects always do. “The nanny dog strikes again, ban all bull breeds, yada yada yada”.
Pitbulls are a banned breed and the other dog here is very unlikely to be a Pitbull. People get around this by mix breeding various breeds and end up with an XL Bull Breed. A dog who’s sole purpose is to be massive, insanely strong and intimidating. There is absolutely no fathomable reason why you’d want one of these dogs other than security or wanting to look like a big man.
XL Bully Breeds aren’t the same breed as a Staffie. The weight, size and temperament between them is huge. It boils my piss when people group them together. Stop being ignorant, if you’re one of those who want an opinion on the matter, at least get it right.
Dog fights are getting out of hand. These gambling groups need to be rooted out.
I don’t care what people say or how much they defend them. It’s always the same breeds 😶 absolutely horrifying.
The fact that the owner had the offending dog walking off it’s lead blows my mind. He will have known it’s tendencies, absolute scum.
How many more times do these types of dogs need to savage someone or somebodies pet until the breeds are banned?

I have a small dog who is scared of big dogs because he’s been attacked by them a few times. I always walk him on his lead.
I am sick of people walking their dogs off the lead. They have no control over their dog, zero. They say it is OK, their dog is good. What about mines? They call their dog back, it never goes. It is always the same story. I’m tired of it. There’s also no responsibility or anything.
What has this crappy Country come to? I’m sad about the dogs but more worried about the fact that thoughtless idiots are going about with dogs that could maul a child to death or tear your hand to shreds and they don’t even put them on a lead!

Both passed away now but at one point I had a Labrador and a presa canario,both really well trained off lead always came back when I requested etc,one day some dickhead with a staffy off lead started screaming at me when his dog attacked my Labrador ,I was booting the staff as hard as I could but it wouldn’t let go,until my presa appeared from over the brow of the hill,he bolted down and just grabbed the staff by the throat and pinned it down,staff went from from insane mode to full on flopping and dropping down to the floor ,the guy then started having a go at me about my dog attacking his lmao like mate fuck off your staff would have killed my lab if he didn’t appear I literally couldn’t get the staff off the Labrador and he had some really deep teeth cuts in his neck and back ot was awful.luckily my well trained dog saved him 🙂

Poor little love. The fact the owner was there and just booted his dog away says a lot… We aren’t even supposed to have pitbulls in the UK.
In the US pit bulls are legal to own, however the number of people who have had bad experiences is amazing. I know people who flat out refuse to allow family members dogs onto there property because they are pit bulls.
Luckily we have the space here where you don’t encounter other people while walking.
I know it’s not legal, but I am seriously considering buying one of those extending baton things and carrying it with me on my countryside dog walks. I’ve got a little whippet. She wouldn’t be any match for a bigger dog. On Halloween a boxer dog came barrelling into my house when it heard my dog barking. The owner didn’t even notice until I started shouting at the dog. Thankfully the dog left when called but the utter ignorance of some people.. I’m not going to let my dog die before I’ve bashed the attacking dogs brains in. A shame but my dog is my family and I’m going to protect them at all costs – especially when the law won’t do anything about it.
Why isn’t it the law to walk with dogs on lead in public? Maybe some parks etc can be exempt and you’re welcome to walk them off lead there. But even on my housing estate I see off lead dogs every time I walk mine and have had one incident involving an off lead dog getting defensive.
My lab is very friendly but I always walk him on lead and check with the other owners if he’s ok to say hello to their dog.
I really hate owners shouting don’t worry they’re friendly as the off lead dog comes bounding over, it’s not an issue for my dog but other dogs don’t deal as well with it.
Give the dog a bullet, then put one between the eyes of the scum owner too.
I was under the impression pit bulls were really peaceful creatures. The smaller dog must have really annoyed it or something. It takes a lot to piss off a pit bull. Even the name suggests calm and reason. Pit. Bull. So calm.
Dickheads who walk dogs off lead with no control should face criminal charges. So many times an off leash dog has gone for me / my dog. Then the owner of the other dog goes on about how their dog is great with other dogs. Seeing stories like this and others makes my blood boil.
Very lucky it wasn’t a child ffs. These dogs should not be allowed.
Always a pit bull, or Staffordshire. You never hear about a Labrador doing this.
“It’s not the breed it’s the owner” – it’s absolutely both. They’re violent dogs who are always in the hands of cunts.
I remember a couple of years ago my Cavalier was attacked by some great big pitbull looking thing. Luckily he wasn’t hurt but I remember my dad telling me had to boot the thing in the ribs to get it to let go. Some breeds are much more aggressive than others, and that means the owners need to be much more caring for them to domesticate them properly. The bully breed should be banned in my eyes, but at the very least the owners for such bully breeds need to be vetted
I can’t even put into words how much stories like this make my blood boil. We’ve had some moron move in on the estate who walks her giant pit bull pup off lead and doesn’t do much when it walks over to other people, it’s a disaster waiting to happen. I honestly don’t know what I would do if one of these dogs went for my dog when out on a walk as I’m not strong enough to take one on, the thought terrifies me.
I still want revenge for Freddie the Seal (few things really get to me, but I’m sad and angry every time I read that story). Rebecca Sabben-Clare and other such owners deserves
to watch their dogs get killed before their eyes.
My mums Jack Russell was attacked by a pit bull in the dog field behind our house, she had my dog by the throat and I literally just brought my foot up and stamped on its head repeatedly while the idiot owner jumped from one foot to the other screaming “ohmygodohmggod”. It was the scariest fuckinf thing in my life and I am so glad I managed to save my girl, I can’t imagine how these people feel.
The owner needs locking up and the dog putting down. Pitbulls are banned for a reason. Absolute horrible dogs.
Disgraceful dogs. Anyone who owns one should be jailed. Sick of hearing these stories.
If that were my greyhound I would struggle to control for my actions following this. Jesus. I feel so despairingly sorry for the owner.
It’s a poor elderly dog as well. The irresponsibility of having to end your day’s like that.
