  1. >Mr Ling claimed he acted in self-defence after Mr Chojnowski tried stab him with a key.

As always it stops being self defence when man is laid on floor and you keep kicking his head…

    >After drinking for about seven hours and taking cocaine supplied by a friend, Mr Ling returned to his car at about 02:30 BST to find the light on and Mr Chojnowski in the driver’s seat, the court heard

    That will help his defence…

    >Mr Ling, who ran a waste disposal business before selling it for more than £1m last year, told the court he had left £1,000 in cash

Not a drug dealer at all…

It’s tragedy because 2 lived will be wasted. As always your right to self defence isn’t automatic right to kill someone

  2. He went too far and was off his head while doing this. Self defence is one thing, a right everyone should have and that should be protected in law, however kicking someone to death goes far beyond what is necessary. It might not be palatable for everyone to hear but even criminals have some legal protection in cases like this.

  3. To be honest I am fed up of hearing about trials like this… if the police and courts did their job in the first place and prevented and punished criminals these cases wouldn’t happen..

Time and time again we hear about innocent people being charged because some scumbag has chosen to attack or steal from them…

I for one wish the judge would end the trial with… innocent…. the dead guy played with fire and got burned… the end you are free to go

  4. Car robbing scumbag is killed by coke head with anger issues?

As far as deterrents go the fear of being caught stealing by a nutcase is far more effective than the police might catch you.

2 wronguns off the street is a win win surely.

  5. Stories like this make me think of a notorious one near me in the 90s. Man exited pub late, saw his car being robbed, dived on it, held on, car was driven into a wall and he died. Tbh it sounds unrealistic as any pub would be far enough him hanging on isn’t likely but the wall was outside my house and it’s something I always remembered.

  6. UK police are only efficient at locating and collaring victims of theft and robbery when they make a stand. This action threatens their job security, so they gear up and rush out for these cases.

Report the theft? Meh. No CCTV, no crime, mate. Get CCTV, point out the location of said stolen items, car, etc and identify the robbers? Meh, my cat videos are more compelling. But catch the thief and deliver equitable justice which the hi-vis bobby see as beyond the narrow nightlight range of the jobsworth? THAT is TRUE crime, boys, roll out!

This was excessive retribution on the part of the victim. However, broken bones are deserved for broken windows. Light fingers in someone else’s wallet need to be broken as part of a lesson from which the just should be immune to prosecution. Hell, those people need to earn part of the police budget for their civil service.

  7. I don’t condone vigilantism but perhaps if the police and the courts started being less woke and actually took crime seriously, putting victims before the criminal this would happen less often.

  8. He shouldn’t have killed him, but I can’t say I have much sympathy for a Thief being taken away from society. Play stupid games, win stupid prices.

  9. Once again, you are far better being submissive and just letting the criminals get away with it.

Self-defence in this country is an absolute joke.
