No wonder there’s no houses, he stuffed them all down his neck
I vote Yes.
I see alot of Homeless people in prison…The Housing Crisis must be that bad.

He has some confidence in the stitching on that suit
He’s got a neck like a jockeys bollox
What’s with all the comments about personal appearance? Surely if you had a gripe with him you’d attack the policies rather than what he looks like.
But you cant build houses overnight
That role is a poisoned chalice….not that i am a fan of his by the way, but there is no quick fix on this! Particularly with some on the housing lists turning down reasonable houses
“Housing crisis” is the most stupid made up Reddit term I’ve ever seen. What they really mean is housing in Dublin had high demand
People don’t say there’s a “PS5 crisis” because you can’t afford to spend €550 on one and they’re often out of stock.
It’s funny, living with Eoghan Murphy as minister for housing was galling but that was mainly the sense of indifference as well as being so clearly out of his depth he wasn’t even going to attempt anything by the way of policy. Hard as it is to believe, O’Brien seems to be worse in that he’s not just indifferent but he’s also capable of adjusting policy to move things in a direction that are again not improving the overall situation, but instead of the deer in the headlights Murphy was, O’Brien is like wolf covered in blood looking up from the carcass. He fucking relishes it.
Sounds like more pointless performance politics to me.
There’s no chance of it actually succeeding.
Not saying the government are doing a good job of housing – they certainly are not – but this won’t achieve anything productive.
I do wish all the parties, government and opposition, spent more time actually trying to solve the country’s problems and less time sniping at each other.
I propose that anyone who is still on the fence about this government to google Laissez-faire, and remember it’s what caused the mass deaths during the famine.
Look I hate Darragh as much as the next guy, but lets be honest, he’s just being used as the horse to beat over systematic issue within the government. Honestly It’s not just his policies that got us here. It was long before him and it will be there still after him.
I literally have no hope be it SF FF FG or santa claus himself that gets into power. Absolutely nothing will change because for every person struggling to pay rent, there is 15 immigrants willing to take this shit arseways because its still better than what they have at home.
I’m an immigrant myself before I get called xenophobic.
The problem is that in the eyes of our government there is no problem.
And then they’ll follow that with motion for being a useless twat
Its not rocket science. Cut VAT on all new builds and streamline the planning process.
We have so much tax receipts we’re topping up the rainy day fund again. Meanwhile in the same country you need to be on around 80k per year to afford a bedsit within 150 miles of our capital city.
He should face a firing squad
I wonder sometimes how out of touch the government parties really must be or if they just really underestimate the intelligence of the electorate. This ‘populist’ attack line that they use to dismiss any stance on housing that isn’t there own is so condescending it’s not even funny. I’m not an angry person but it pisses me off every time I hear one of them use it. Micheál Martin just did it again in the confidence debate
No confidence in his dress sense
Next please
The housing crisis is an issue.
But expecting government to do anything about it is laughable. Help vulture funds and force everyone into renting forever.
They do fuck all but take your hard earned money.
Replace the housing minister if you wish
All the same kind of arsehole.
People expecting social housing handed to them.
I expect nothing from our bunch of ineffective eejits.
Only bit of government housing getting done is moving refugees and social housing troublemakers out of the cities and into 2nd class commuter towns in ballyarseways because it gets in the way of big rents in cities.
Ah yes but he did well to push the crisis down the road and he always knew this day was coming as the next minister knows it but sure arent they doing well out of the huge rents?
