I’m visiting family in Larnaca and found this spoon in my mum’s kitchen today. Anyone recognize the logo on the spoon handle from a part of Cyprus aviation history?

Ah Cyrus Airways, good memories
maybe that’s the reason they went bankrupt… people kept stealing their spoons smh..
Such a good logo, wasn’t worth the modernominimal change it got. We’re making everything seem utopian and soulless and I hate it.
My yiayia would walk behind the counter handing out food and sweets to people. She’d start talking to someone and next thing I know I’m taking suitcases full of Halloumia, sandwiches, tsippa, and all kinds of food to the UK. Memories.
This is one of the spoons that was used to feed the flying mouflons commandaria. Back in the day you could fly on one from Kambos to Nicosia in under 20mins in good weather. Increased urbanisation has meant that most of the landing areas have been built over so now they are used only for short trips between Troodos villages.
I kept one of their blankets. Still have it with me.
It’s a company that was run to the ground because just like any government company it was used to steal money and put unqualified friends and family in.
Cyprus Airways
I have an interesting story regarding meals on board.
EDIT: This was on Cyprus Airways.
I was flying on a totally trash aircraft, some seats were shaky and making noise, overhead compartments popped open during the flight and the cabin crew were exclusively old men who seemed to eagerly await their retirement. It was an awful experience.
I’m a vegetarian, and I had noted this on my booking (around 2009-2010). Come meal time, they hadn’t accounted for me for some reason. It wasn’t a big deal, since the flight was 2h, but one of the cabin crew felt sorry and he came to personally apologize. He also said his wife had made him spinach canelloni and that he could share his meal and he could eat my assigned meal. I felt very embarrassed and said that it was okay, but I’m a big guy so he didn’t let it slide, he brought me his own meal in a tupper. It was a nice meal!
It is a story I keep retelling ever since, it was so funny but also so genuine, and although the rest of the flight was weird, this made my day!
Got a white (now yellow) cup
