It’s almost as if
People are trying to push some sort of strange agenda about
Oh I’m not sure
Some other group perhaps taking potential beds away from the homeless
Regardless of the truth on the matter
(And despite not caring until someone else was getting help)
That group means well, but I find the fact that they post images of the rough sleepers they help very exploitative. It’s not respecting the privacy or dignity of these people to photograph them receiving food and then share it with the world
I have seen a few different posts do the rounds. It does sound very true, but that the posts have different information on names, lifestyle etc makes me suspicious. And of course, with the posts they say ‘its the post the media won’t report on’. The media won’t report on unverified information as that leads to an absolute headache if they get it wrong down the line.
There are too many wacko charities providing “services” to homeless people. The govt needs to step up and get rid of the Victorian ideal that the private person is responsible for the welfare of the poor.
This is a rich state. We all pay taxes. Homeless services should be run by branches of government. Not mad people on Facebook, or private enterprise subcontracted to do a shit job for the best tendered price (looking at McVerrys et al here)
