Import Taxes and the fact that swiss people have more money to spend so they can charge more.
cause we’re rich
because prices are determined by the market, not by costs
149,90 RON = 30€ (so 10€ less)
Answer for your question: rich ppl tax
In November 1 CHF = 0.98 USD
Now 1 CHF = 1.07 USD
Do you know when that paper thing was printed?
Supply and demand, a tons of products are more expensive only by the fact that swiss people earn more money.
Big Mac Index be like
Welcome to Switzerland! The quality of the material is not everything. They have to pay their employees, electricity, rent etc. Switzerland is one of the countries with the highest cost of living. People want high salaries, but they’re not ready to pay a fair price for their consumerism.
Aswell 40chf is nowadays 180+PLN
Simples, profit maximisation.
The seller will demand the maximum the market is willing to pay unless competition forces lower prices. Most segments of the economy have at best an oligopoly, that’s not enough for market forces to actually work.
Ukrainian hryvnia is quickly changing, you shouldn’t take it as a reference
The sale prices in switzerland have nothing to do with the cost of the product or retail. It’s made upon purchasing power.
PPP difference
Wait. You do realize their is a war going on in Ukraine, right? That’ll fluctuate prices. Did we catch you in a moment where you’re asleep at the wheel?
Bünzli % is added obviously
I don’t think the Ukraine price is the special one here. It’s the Swiss one. It’s literally 10 USD more than any of the other countries on that tag. Switzerland neighbors several Euro countries and it’s completely normal that the Swiss price has between 10 and 50% “rich country” tax. Which is why some Swiss people like to shop abroad.
Tis not only supply and demand, its also import taxes and generally higher profit margins in Switzerland making that difference. Check out e.g. the bigmac index if you want to know more.
Swiss people love to spend more, because they think it is better quality. If a shop sells good quality for low price, people complain about everithing, because they think it’s bad quality. If you sell whatever quality for high price, everything’s good.
Well, having a store in Switzerland, paying Swiss rent, bills, and wages to employees in Switzerland costs way more than in other countries. It doesn’t matter if it’s the same product.
It isn’t uncommon for stuff to be priced differently in different countries. Though, I’m surprised it’s more expensive in Georgia (which is a relatively poor country) than in Switzerland. 129 GEL = 48.5 USD
Not wanting to pay more in this country is considered a disease
In some countries you need to work all day to buy this, but in Switzerland you need to work 2-3 hours to buy same product.
Also the storage rent is higher and the salary of the salesperson.
Some market segments are more competitive than others, so they cannot charge you more, just because you are Swiss, otherwise they lose market share. Consumer electronics is a good example. On the other hand, some companies have less competition, or there are price cartels at work as well, so they essentially agree on their pricing. There are lot of moving parts as well, if the company has to maintain presence in Switzerland (higher wages etc.), or higher import fees which also add some. So it is not easy to tell if they really rip you off .
New Yorker is a multinational company. The operational costs of their Hungarian branch is low, but they sell the goods at a lower price there. Switzerland is the opposite.
In an ideal world New Yorker has similar profit/expense ratio in all of those countries which means they don’t put an extra profit, just because you are Swiss. Probably it is not true though.
Because Switzerland
Bla, bla, bla… because we earn much more in CH, so it’s OK.
But…. It’s also US$ 39.95, lol !
Capitalism, free market, bla bla bla….
The worst differences that really annoying me to the point of shopping buying in CH are in the prices of books.
When you read the original price like 25 euros and the Swiss price at 45 CHF, I feel so much robbed that I don’t buy.
Fucking cartels on everything in this country…
You can pay in Euro or any of the printed cutrency and save money. As they are announcing the prices they must give the product. If they refuse police will be happy to help.
