Just because your dog is nice and friendly around you doesn’t mean the instincts aren’t still in there somewhere. Be careful, especially with dogs that are outside on their own at this time of year.

How long does it take for a dog to kill 50 fecking sheep? Always surprises me how many they manage to kill
Someone is for the chop. They won’t pull the wool over the guards eyes. But no doubt people will be bleating about their dogs having to be on leashes.
Came across the loveliest little terrier and medium sized red setter mauling my sheep in 09. 7am in the morning I could tell straight away because the sheep were all huddled. Terrier was nipping the back legs, and setter going for neck. Dead lambs here and there. 4 other ewes physically damaged and the whole flock suffering adrenal gland exhaustion.
I was on the lookout because I could tell something was up and it was the 4th visit I’d say with the dogs were getting increasingly bolder. The flock seemed increasing dishevelled and weren’t grazing or relaxing. Turnout the dogs were from an estate across the river. Just having fun. I caught the friendly terrier who came running to me like a baby but the other one was too smart or untrusting.
Called warden and he said that only for I had taken a picture of them in action he wouldn’t have been able to do anything.
Owners harassed me at first for ‘stealing’ their dog but once I sent photos of dead and dying they quickly wrote a check in fairness. We all loved animals in this story.
I agreed they could have the dog back if it went to relatives in another county. Chose to trust them. Hope it was the right call.
There are no bad dogs, just bad owners.
Always really feel for the farmer in these situations, this is their livelihood, 50 sheep is a big hit to take, must be awfully disheartening and a rotten thing to find. All because people won’t control their dogs properly.
