As an American interested in the upcoming Czech presidential election, is Petr Pavel a GigaChad? Because he certainly looks like one, and he seems like one based on the “Political views” section of his Wikipedia page

  1. Well, it’s a bit tainted by his membership in the communist party. But he claims he regrets this decision and his career afterwards shows him as a modern, pro western person. So the Giga- may be questionable, but I would consider him at least a MegaChad.

    Jediný, co mu musím nechat, na tu kampaň si pozval ty správný firmy ( dostali ten ksicht všude ) a zastupuje názorovou množinu “systému po srsti”, takže má tlačenku z druhé strany

  12. The problem is not only his party membership. The main problem is that just as 1989 was coming, he **voluntarilly** joined Tankie/Communist military intelligence. He is probably as rotten as Babiš.

    Also another thing.

    Everyone who had a sense of political and economic logic around here back in late 1980s knew that something would give out within the next few years (most thought WW3 would erupt as the last HUURAH of the Soviets)…and the “fox” right then decided that time was the right time to join the heavily ideologically driven military intelligence directorate under the ŠTB spying agency.

    I am seriously doubting his political intelligence and acumen.

    I fully expect to be downvoted for this.

There were key moments in international politics in which I was seriously thinking that both [Klaus](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/V%C3%A1clav_Klaus#Early_life) and [Zeman](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milo%C5%A1_Zeman#Early_years) may be either KGB/FSB sleeper agents, or at the very least may be under [Russian Kompromat](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kompromat) influence due to some of their undisclosed pre-1989 activities. And their CV is crystal clear when compared to Pavel’s.

    Meanwhile when you mention that this person, known also under his communist secret police code name “**Pávek**”, who has been member of the communist party and was trained as communist military intelligence agent, is tainted by his past, all of the liberal left Czech sphere gang up on you, downvote you to hell and start calling you various names.

    So, make your own conclusions.

  24. General Pavel could not draw a sun and refused to sleep after lunch, revealed his classmate from kindergarten

Yes, he went into army school, he went against some dumb decision there, like saluting exercise for which he was punished by dosage of communist propaganda. he was in paratroopers unit, in 1992 he went into America to study there. In Jugoslavian war he took unit of volunteers and saved quite big number of french soliders. He had 2nd biggest job in NATO, he was able to talk to the russians after Krym annexation in 2016 regarding army, weaponry and this stuff. He quite understood the message america was giving to allies in NATO. Only thi g is his part in communist party, but he explained that his father was member, almost everyone in school were there. In other words, yes, he is.

  26. Yeah he was directly involved in combat saving some poor french guys in the Balkans.

    He has troubled past from pre-revolution time but he acknowledges that and its not a big deal for me 30 years after. Quite a few of our politicians are not clean either and unlike others he is willing to face his past and is not denying it.

    Personally I feel that military persons should not be politics/presidents “ideally”, but I’m not always right. And he probably would be still better, then anyone who was president before (after Vaclav Havel).

    And c’mon, he is literally war-hero, look like strong person a seems that fair… Was born in communism, but still praved his worth by his actions… so still my candidate 😉
