  1. Not pointless. If you saw the state of the footpaths around where I live you’d understand. Haven’t been able to walk around for a week as it wont thaw. Also many of us now are unable to afford to heat our homes properly so prolonged cold warrants a warning more than it did a few years ago.

  2. > STATUS ORANGE – Weather Warning – Be PreparedThis category of ORANGE level weather warnings is for weather conditions which have the capacity to impact significantly on people in the affected areas. The issue of an Orange level weather warning implies that all recipients in the affected areas should prepare themselves in an appropriate way for the anticipated conditions.

It’s not pointless. They are telling you to prepare appropriately for the conditions, that’s it.

There’s a difference from it being cold and the roads/footpaths being covered in ice.

Plenty of people driving too fast down my way and the road is like oiled glass in parts, they should be taking heed but aren’t.

  3. I thought we were beyond complaining about the alerts. It was done to death last year, and the year before that, and and…

  4. If they didn’t warn us, you’d be on here giving out about how you slipped on the foot path like the poor fella on RTE news years back.

  5. Weather warnings, alerts and updates aren’t just for you sat at home and thinking I better put on an extra layer. They’re for people across the country who work outside, going out to sea or are making travel arrangements.
Take your head out of your arse

  6. It’s embarrassing to see such hysteria in the media over a bit of frost and black ice after almost every major road in the country has been well gritted.
