Pumping out the old min charge for alcohol. The biggest drinkers in the UK are middle class, where a min pricing would have minimal effect.
You have to die of something. I want this on every study like this. If I don’t die of drink will it be cancer? Because fuck that.
It’s amazing how easy this habit can creep up on you.
Only until recently I was drinking most days (calculated and was give or take 40 / 50 units a week)..
Cut it back down to only on weekends now and less than 14 units but it becomes habitual I didn’t even realize.
Only 31 years old but I did a blood test a few months back to check up on the liver and everything came back perfect, so hopefully dodged any damage..
The cure was significantly worse than the disease on this one.
I actually drank less during the pandemic, the pandemic put me out of work so luxuries went out the window so I could focus on the essentials.
Mixed 1lt Rum with 500ml of vodka and 3.5lt of Coke, IM STILL STANDING, YEAH, YEAH, YEAH!
it was stupid, I admit, but did I get smashed.
Please note, I at no time encourage such drinking.
Record pandemic drinking fuelled by mental health issues that people either developed or had ignored for months or years prior. Excessive drinking is often a symptom of a deeper underlying issue and our ‘stiff upper lip’ attitude has meant too many Brits ignored those for far too long, only for it all to finally come out when left to their own devices.
Been sober 7 months today. Drank heavily for just over 50% of my life. Literally every single aspect of my life has improved since I put down the bottle. I do sometimes wonder what society would be like if nobody drank.
