  1. It’s just really a sloppy way of running the basics of government.

    It is the practice that a copy of any government statement will be sent to the opposition 30 minutes in advance, to give the opposition representative who has to reply to it at least some time to draw up an outline of what they want to say.

    This isn’t some complicated political game playing – it’s just basic poor administration.

  2. Please stop using the word Cumbria to refer to North Lancashire, Yorkshire, Cumberland and Westmorland please. Cumbria was just the brand name of a council that’s been abolished.
