Does this sounds right to you? I know very few people who earn around €2160 a month. Opinions?

  1. There is a saying in Russia: “A governor eats meat, while peasant eats cabbage. On average villagers eat cabbage rolls”

What you’re looking for is probably the median salary, which is 1,573EUR according to your link

  2. I was very surprised to discover how little private school teachers make compared to other countries.

Most people I know in Cyprus earn between 800e-1200e and it doesn’t matter if you are a cleaner, personal trainer/gym instructor, construction worker, secretary etc. Leave Limassol and the financial sector, most people I know earn that regardless of the job.

  3. I think the more accurate measure is the median Salary. Average is either being skewed heavily by the top end or just straight made up.

  4. Salaries in Cyprus shot up this year. Considerably.

And in a weird twist of fate, there are some facts to support it already: [https://tradingeconomics.com/cyprus/wages](https://tradingeconomics.com/cyprus/wages)

But not all sectors have seen this rise and it’s also partially driven by a lot of Russian and Ukrainian white collar professionals relocating their jobs to Cyprus.

  5. Over the weekend i had a look at the wages in Cyprus just out of curiosity, and my God was I caught off guard at how low the wages are!

How are people supposed to pay their bills, mortgages/rent, groceries, idiaitera, college/uni fees with these below average wages? Cost of living is rising everywhere but so do wages. The wages in Cyprus are the same from a decade ago or more. Shocking.

I worry for the future of my friends who still live in Cyprus and can’t even get a mortgage and probably will never get a mortgage.
