Micheál Martin tenders resignation as Taoiseach

  1. Gone amid a cloud of self congratulation. A man who has done great damage to the country during his time in politics and who has deliberately set out to end any sense of the country as a country. He got the smoking ban right. Give him that.

  2. Did a good solid job holding the government together, but the government were unimaginative, particularly on key points like housing. Didn’t make many mistakes. I don’t think he helped FF all that much, he isn’t a distinctive enough personality to really make it obvious what FF stand for, and what makes them different to other parties. 7.5/10

  3. But he’ll keep his special tie pin, or ring, or garter, or whatever it is they give to members of the Council of State.

  4. I don’t think I can handle 2 and a half years of Varadkar waxing lyrical about his inability to solve national problems on the daily while now also being head of the government.

  5. Glad he’s gone. Never really liked him and his superior, lecturing manner. Very self absorbed.
He got what he wanted, to be Taoiseach. But in doing so probably fucked his party for years.

  6. Clown should be in jail for treason. And Varadkar should be with him. Not becoming Taoiseach again.

  7. Remember after Martin took over , there was a hashtag going around #bringleoback. Wtf??!..I laughed at people then for it and I laugh now. A cheating criminal is now running our country! A guy who wears stupid socks, has a Mr Man cup and quotes Mean Girls! I mean seriously lol

  8. Never really considered voting FF but I honestly find him hard to hate. Maybe because I find varadkar far more irritating.

  9. I misread this initially as “Micheal Martin tenderly resigns as Taoiseach”.

“Leo…” he said in a gravelly voice. “I’ve kept this safe for you for two years now, waiting for you. Every minute, every hour, every single thing I’ve done has been leading up to this moment. You’re a man now son, and I’m proud to call you Taoiseach.”

  10. Next government is FF+SF.

Let Varadkar take the hits of the upcoming economy and resentment towards Ukrainians, Martin will have no problem throwing him under the bus.

  11. He couldn’t manage a Starbucks. Good riddance. Can’t think of one thing he’s done that has bettered Ireland under his lead.

The bar has gotten so low for most politicians based on it becoming a “who you know” job
