The only problem I could see with this is how rescues are handled. Will the owners of rescues be given undue hassle, will people intent on cropping be using rescues to ‘launder’ dogs so that they can legally have the look?
“A barbaric procedure” that is common practice and part of the standard for many breeds in other parts of the world.
Strange article, guards can already seize any dog with cropped ears under the current Act, they just choose not to, partially because it’s difficult to prove if the cropping was carried out illegally in Ireland or legally in a foreign country. Difficult to see what difference the change they’re proposing will make.
They don’t even do the jobs they are supposed to do now let alone trying to run around snatching up dogs.
Cropping ears FFS . Pony’s getting flaked up and down the road , starving and freezing and they are talking about a once popular practice in the USA.
Cutting off the end of children’s cocks is still ok.
