There’s a town centre? I thought it was just a train station
That’s some high-mindedness coming from the world’s largest railway junction with a town attached.
I remember staying at a spa hotel with my wife and we decided to walk into Crewe after a relaxing massage
It was shit and I would never return
on the way back we took an alternate route that was supposed to go through some fields and near some farm animals when we got there the path was overrun with nettles so google maps directed us to continue down the same path to the next path that would take us off.
Problem was the path was down a dual carriage way with cars screaming past never the less the act of walking back through crewe to go back was more daunting and we soldiered on down past the screaming cars spurred on by a painted man on the ground that showed us others had taken this path before.
25 minutes later we arrive at the next path only to find a landslide had taken out the path and there was no longer any safe access.
We were then faced with a decision do we continue down this path for an additional 10 minutes to the next path that google assured us was paved or turn around and walk the 35 minutes back down the dual carriageway.
We chose bravely to continue to the next path. It was at this point that the painted man on the road abandoned us and the safety of the railings disappeared meaning we now were sharing the path with roadkill and no safety barrier for the next 8 or so minutes.
As we came to the next path we saw salvation as the grass has clearly be neatly trimmed and the path was surely maintained. We picked up pace and as we reached the path i almost fell to my knees in despair as i see the path had a sign saying “No access unsafe path ahead”
After walking for over 50 minutes and met with disaster at each turn we decided to climb up the side of the embankment to the overpassing bridge a few minutes ahead and scale the wall to safety.
We walked back safely through the normal roads and collapsed into the hotel bar. We discussed it with the staff and they booked us in for another massage the next day at a heavily reduced staff discount because they couldn’t stop laughing at us.
And after all that.
I still preferred walking next to road kill then going back to crewe.
They accidentally used “because” when they meant to use “and”.
