I welcome this announcement as a starting point. The challenge starts with reporting an assault(s) but the greater challenge is gathering evidence, supporting victims and successfully trialling cases and gaining successful convictions.
The CPS could start with making sentencing guidelines and thresholds more transparent.
Jurors given specialist support the specifics of individual cases.
For those who make false or malicious claims the law needs to address this and sentencing applied to discourage fake claims. 5 years minimum.
Malicious allegations are like any other allegation they are investigated and are proven or disproven.
What you can prove and what you can successfully prosecute however are two different things.
Good step. I feel for the people on the phones though. There should be free counseling for staff.
edit – don’t know if they get it or not, just think they should.

Labour will open ‘specialist’ rape courts. What will that entail, exactly…?
Let me write a news report similar to how BBC reports on crimes on other countries, shall I ?
12 years ago on an October day, a horrific stabbing and murder in Rotherham was a watershed moment which focused UK’s national conversation on an issue previously left in the shadows – violence against women and child sexual exploitation scandal.
*This report contains content which some readers may find upsetting, including sexual violence*
When 17-year-old Laura Wilson was stabbed by her then Boyfriend, the incident shocked the world. Barely 150 miles away from the capital city of London, the City of Roterham was home to child grooming gangs and gang-rapists.
The World’s shock did not gave way to anger on the streets, as British are famous for their stiff upper lip and refusal to protest. Instead, minorities in the country protested and this led to the case becoming even more visible on Newspapers.
Since no widespread nationwide protests happened, no new Laws were passed and niether enforcement was not tightened, and there was no amount of change -instead, a new helpline was setup.
What a load of crap.
Empty gestures to get some nice headlines when in actual fact, the tories have an ABYSMAL record when it comes to sexual violence.
Surely there had to be a earlier helpline for that, we have national helplines for victims of domestic abuse. To say there’s never been a helpline for rape victims is alarming if true as thaat would mean there’s been a gap in adult safeguarding.

But more than a decade later, there are still significant dangers for women in UK. The crime rate against women has almost every year by 6% in the past decade.[source](https://www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulationandcommunity/crimeandjustice/bulletins/domesticabuseinenglandandwalesoverview/november2021)
