The Deutsch – Dutch mix up does happen, but more often I read stuff like Copenhagen being the capital of Holland or the Netherlands or Denmark being part of the Netherlands.

The first time I (a Dane) visited the US the people I was staying with greeted me in Dutch so the confusion apparently goes both ways.
Danish/Dutch
Swedish/Swiss
Why 🥲
My friend from New York won’t stop saying I’m from the Netherlands no matter how many times I correct him and I can’t get him to stop! (He’s 100% not doing it as a joke!)
This is not a joke either, please help me!!
When I lived in England there was about a 50% chance that people I told I was Danish would remember me as Dutch, until future corrections.
