No, we can’t have market intervention for something so mundane as the food the plebs eat, but if the financial boys fuck up and take down a few banks, we need to get right up in there spraying billions into their coffers and CEO bonuses. Stupid food, would people please focus on the ECONOMY!
Farmers are sitting on inflation proof land banks. The profit from food production has become secondary to the money you can make just by owning vast tracts pf countryside.
The Tories want farmers to go out of business so they can “invest” in farmland. The more land that gets forced to be sold the better now they have bankrupted the country and are less likely to get back handers from the inevitable Labour government.
Don’t worry guys, markets regulate themselves. That’s the great thing about neoliberalism!

Heard something about the taxpayer bankrolling farmers to ‘wild’ their land, rather than use it for food production.
So farmers can buy land, do fuck all, help inflate food prices and reduce food availability in the process, while collecting free money off the taxpayer.
