
During World War 1, the Battle of Verdun destroyed the villages of Beaumont-en-Verdunois, Bezonvaux, Cumières-le-Mort-Homme, Fleury-devant-Douaumont, Haumont-près-Samogneux, and Louvemont-Còte-du-Poivre. To honor them, they were never rebuilt. This is what they looked like before the war, in order:
