Great this has been reconsidered, but yet more proof you can never, ever trust the words of a Tory
Well this is good news, but seriously Sunak does more U-turns than a family on a sightseeing holiday in Suffolk.
How did he get so far if he can’t commit to anything? Say what you will about his predecessors but at least they had some confidence in their stupid or selfish ideas.
Good. Now I hope all the selfish old people who complain they are an eyesore literally get sore eyes.
it sounds good but if NIMBYs are still allowed to object, and if Tory MPs still side with them, then we might find nothing much changes, and this is just PR stunt.
In think it’s time for a U-turn on using the term ‘U-turn’.
Reconsidering matters in light of new evidence is hardly an undesirable course of action.
It’s good to see that expanding offshore windpower is such an incredibly obviously good idea that even 2020s Tories can’t deny that we should have a lot more of it.
Pity that it took Russia kicking off a war in Europe to make it obvious enough, but here we are.
These onshore wind farms are pointless imo if they sent state owned. Green energy is meant to be cheaper as well as cleaner but if it’s owned by companies that need to make record profits every year for their shareholders….as well as being tied to other prices…. Then what’s the point.
Announcing a policy and seeing it through are two different things though. I can easily see ‘logistical issues’ getting in the way of proposed farms as a way to artificially reduce numbers and to please NIMBYs.
Whilst I support the idea, how much more efficient are onshore wind farms compared to offshore wind farms?
I look forward to the U-Turn on the U-Turn.
Not much Sunak hasn’t changed his mind on. And I celebrate change of course/direction in politics, I hate bullheadedness, and enjoy when people change their mind when new knowledge comes forth, but I don’t believe anything Sunak says he’s gonna do.
This one only pisses off his fellow Tories. I doubt most people hate wind turbines.
good news, building onshore wind farms will help the UK meet its Paris Agreement climate commitments
