Hallo, last summer I lived in Berlin with my fiance and i had horrible allergies. Like the worst in my life. Choking it up to bad luck i dealt(badly) with them. Flash forward a few months i left Berlin and allergies were gone. Not a sign of them. And then when i come to visit my fiance there they are again, instantly and just in her apartment. I can’t 100% guarantee its mold (aside from the mold I’ve visually seen) but i have a very high suspicion it is as I’m very sensitive to allergens like that
So a few things first, we have a small apartment with NO ventilation in the bathroom. Like i see a tiny square hole that has no fan and have a high suspicion that mold is in the walls behind it.
On top of that our shower looks like this ( https://ohgodmywifeisgerman.files.wordpress.com/2012/10/shower-indeutschland-with-drain.jpg) when i last visited the drain was FILLED with mold, unfortunately didn’t pay attention to the color but it was so aggressive that within a day of using cleaning liquids thay the drain was filled with mold again, so much so water couldn’t go down easily and I’m sure i can get my fiance to send me a photo if people need to see it.
On the same note as far as the shower goes the drain doesn’t completely drain of water after a shower which seems to be encouraging that mold growth as well. Is there something I’m missing as far as cleaning that and keeping it water/mold free?

Anyway what sort of rights do we have? Do we call the landlord first? Contact a mold specialist to check out the apartment?

I’ve already bough some mold test kits, mold killer spray, a dehumidifier for the bathroom and an air purifier for our bedroom and plan to do a deep clean when i get back to the apartment. Is there anything else we can do? Is there maybe something else I’m missing that might be the cause of these terrible breathing/allergy issues?

My inability to breathe made me miserable last summer and can’t look forward to our time together if i feel worse than i ever have just being in the room. Thanks for any help, appreciate your time.
