What is most used messenger in Europe now that WhatsApp is not as great as it seems? Telegram or Signal or other?

  1. Telegram is more used, but it is less safe than Signal (not end-to-end encrypted). Signal is objectively the best option out there, plus it’s a non-profit so they don’t sell your data like whatsapp does.

  2. Going to be moving to Europe soon and figuring out the whole messaging thing. I don’t want to use WhatsApp because Facebook (I don’t like Facebook or its products/services) so I was wondering what is being used nowadays other than WhatsApp. I like both telegram and signal but, I just want to use one so I can tell my friends and family back home to
use the main one I’ll be using.

  3. I think Telegram is far better bcs Telegram respects privacy. In telegram we can still talk without sharing our phone number, which is not there in signal. Signal is more secure but I love Telegram. Whatsapp is not even in the list.

  4. I use telegram for my home control and only one contact. Threema for some other older friends. The rest is on signal.

Not using WhatsApp at all. However family uses WhatsApp and Facebook messenger for their social contacts mostly.

  5. WhatsApp for me only. And all I know in Germany. My girlfriend uses WeChat to to talk with her family in china.

Nutjobs use Telegram, self declared smart people used signal or Threema, but came back to WhatsApp after nobody followed them. If you don’t find a Threema or Signal bubble, you will always have WhatsApp.
    .

  6. Everyone use Messenger here. WhatsApp is also sometimes used. I didn’t even know about Signal or Telegram until now.

  7. I think in terms of user base it goes Whatsapp > Telegram > Signal > Threema.

Basically directly opposite of how it should be. In my experience most people use Whatsapp but have 1 or 2 other messengers installed.
