being a fucking secretary when she was 18? Aiding a regime that was omnipresent throughout her entire life up to that point? I don’t know how many 18 year olds would have, given similar circumstances, turned into freedom fighter heroes but if they existed they probably did not see the end of the war. I find it funny when people who are so out of touch with the whole reality of those times now deign to judge those who lived in them, in their old age moreover
This all seems like such a charade clutching at straws at this point just for what exactly? There are a lot more pressing issues in our own time that need addressing, the woman is no danger to society and has at best a couple more years in a geriatric facility left.
Old people’s home is basically already a prison anyway, don’t get why money most be spent on this

Some people here cannot read the article it seems, she chose to work there, she wasn’t forced. She saw the murders – and stayed. You cannot go near it for your audition without noticing the murder, Kaduk testified back in 1965 that any passerby knew from the stench.
Nobody faults her for not stopping it. But to go into court with the defense being: “I didn’t notice the murder” – just shows that she tolerated the genocide. Enough to still recieve paychecks for it.
Can somebody explain to me:
Was she hiding all this years, or what? I agree that conviction comes to late and has lost its point, but where was German state, police and prosecutor for the last 75 years. Was she in Argentina or in Brazilian forest, or in some other way unreachable, or the Germans just needed her in this moment to have some spectacular news in these turbulent days, and until now they just had a big pain in the lower stomach.
