  1. Very sad…RIP

I think this is the 5th pedestrian to die on Irish roads in the last few weeks.

As of 1 Dec… 35 pedestrians gave died on Irish roads.

  2. I know this bloke, I’d see him most days. He was crossing the Rosslare road, coming from the post office. There’s no speed limit drop in the village, and he wasn’t wearing a high-visibility jacket. Feel terrible for everyone, he was a nice old fella.

  3. Sounds like he was knocked down while out walking the roads, poor man. As tragic as it is, I think there needs to be a new push from the RSA or whoever to urge people out walking or cycling to wear high-vis vests.

In my area at least, people have gotten much worse in recent years at making themselves visible while out walking these mornings or evenings. Of course drivers have to be vigilant of pedestrians at all times but to be honest pedestrians need to take some responsibility in making themselves visible to motorists, too.
