Wales: 18 jailed for turning housing estate in Swansea into ‘war zone’

  1. Coming from Swansea and living in this particular area that was affected, I can comfortably say that the sentences handed out were all far too lenient, their behaviour on the night was nothing short of feral further perpetuated by the complete lack of police response regardless of the police patting themselves on the back for conducting a successful investigation; I clearly remember them being stood at the bottom of the hill whilst innocent peoples homes were ransacked by scum.

  2. As someone from Swansea – as soon as I read this headline I said “it’s either Bon-Y-Maen, Townhill or Mayhill”

    It’s Mayhill.

  3. > Judge Thomas added: ‘The death of a young man was shamelessly and cynically hijacked for the purposes of criminal mischief – not out of any respect for him or for his family.

I’m sure the usual people will be along shortly to explain how the police are a disgrace and these were just peaceful people attending a vigil.

  4. 84 years each might have made a difference. average 5 years each probably won’t make much difference. They won’t be that much older and will just be even more jaded.

  5. Such a shame. So much salt of the earth there just rotting in a prison cell instead of achieving their full potential.

  6. Kids need more things to do in the school breaks. We used to have government funded sports clubs and similar activities in deprived areas. Now it seems that whenever the kids are off school there are stories of (a few of them) running riot.
