  1. Actually had to google him, never heard of neither him nor his stage name before. And the interview came off as one of those mockumentary interviews lol.

  2. I can only give a short tldr since I am on my phone

But first they mention some of his milestones, how many albums he sold and how many listens he has on itunes.

Then they start talking about his diagnosis. According to himself, he is able to take absolutely every sound he hears, and remember it almost perfectly.

Because of his Aspergers diagnosis he also connects all of his memories to other senses, like sounds, smells, touch, colours etc. He is not entirely sure what his autism does to his sense of music, but it does something.

And three years before the interview he was broke and on welfare, and is now living in LA.

Only saw it once, so not sure if the details are 100%, but this is approximately it

  3. 00:08-00:38 (reporter): This is Aleksander Vinter. You might never have heard of him. Here you can see Norway’s new superstar in electronic music. His songs have been played 50 million times on Spotify, and his new record is the second-most bought dance album worldwide on iTunes. The 28-year-old from Holmestrand has a very special talent. He remembers every song and every sound he has heard.

00:38-00:52 (Aleksander): Everything I hear is stored in my memory very quickly. So if I hear music that someone else has made, I also get emotions, and all of this is mixed in a bowl [metophorically speaking] in my head. A giant bowl called “Everything Aleks has ever heard”.

00:54-00:58 (reporter): Aleksander Vinter has both ADHD and Asperger’s syndrome.

00:59-01:21 (Aleksander): Autism is strange, because it connects memory with other things, like colours, smells and so on. So I have a sort of an inside-out memory [this part is hard to translate] where pictures are stored in my memory as sounds, while sounds are stored as pictures. No matter what is wrong with me, it feeds the music.[About the guitar] The guitar isn’t tuned, but I’ll fix it. Let’s see.

01:22- 01:45 (reporter): He makes his music on the computer, but can play both guitar, bass, drums and piano. Three years ago, he was on welfare [meaning he wasn’t employed and received help from the welfare state]. Now, he lives in Los Angeles and does this. Under the artist name “Savant”, he has been embraced around the world.
