Government after several weeks admits it had better do something about high profile corruption case.
I suppose if you’re going to sacrifice one of the cronies, you’re going to be selecting from the female, working class, Scottish options first
Hmmm, either the government made a complete cock-up specifying what PPE was required or the Medpro provided PPE as cheaply as they could, disregarding the specifications.
I’m sure she’ll be writing a cheque from her non-extradition place in Honduras…
And will the money go into pay rise for nhs staffs or just to a different pocket of another tory?
Good. Let’s hope we see more recovery of the squandered funds.
Good luck getting £1 out of an Isle of Man company. She’ll be long gone in the decades this will take to sort out.
The UK needs a massive overhaul of bribery law as soon as the new government gets in.
When you hear about contract receivers buying mansions and multiple bankrupt retail properties on the back of the insane sums they’ve received it’s hard to imagine there will be anyway to recover this as it’s probably tied up in their next short term investment/scam.
It’s laughable that they’ve taken this long to go after the companies and that they’re also doing the bare minimum to punish the people who advised and recommended them in the first place. Classic sign of cronyism, no doubt those involved are purging any and all related contact about the other high profile contracts awarded.
Just by looking at their social media, there is a clear link between Mone and PPE Medpro: https://twitter.com/ppemedpro
This should be a criminal case not a civil one. It was a deliberate attempt of fraud. Mone needs to be spending some time at His majesty’s pleasure.
She really did say the wrong thing to the wrong person down at the club, didn’t she?
Not £1 will be recovered and £1000s of Lawyers fees will be enjoyed while this case will rage on for years
PPE firm will just go bankrupt and have already started the cut and shut. Money has gone, liability is limited.
She might lose her peerage but at no real cost to her, or husband and no doubt will just live offshore in luxury.
Can we sue the government to get back all the PPE contract they gave to their mates that didn’t work?
My ex boss claimed furlough for all the staff and kept the money. The HMRC doesn’t seem to care, doesn’t give a monkeys.
Come on, that money has disappeared into the ether.
They need to go after Steve Dechan and Siobhan Bailey MP for Stroud. For the £270 million awarded to P14. A company that had made loses year on year and had an employee count of 3.
66% of the PPE they supplied wasn’t fit for medical use.
Steve bought himself and £1.5million mansion, a house for his parents and paid him and his wife £100k each. Saying was “owed” is after so many years of not making a profit. He also bought himself and stake in Biowave, a US company that is a sponsor of Rangers FC.
Steve, surprise surprise is a former Tory Councillor
I’m pretty sure this is a show trial. In brief, maybe there’s some corruption involved, I don’t know, but the government is doing this to make it look less bad. It’s not because they really care about this, or even that they have a case. Government and the civil service (whatever party) are awful. They waste money at a profound level.
>”PPE Medpro will demonstrate to the courts that we supplied our gowns to the correct specification, on time and at a highly competitive price,” the company said.
“The case will also show the utter incompetence of DHSC to correctly procure and specify PPE during the emergency procurement period.”
I’ve worked in companies supplying to the civil service, and in general, all those government IT system clusterf**ks aren’t because of what the consultants built, but what the civil service or NHS specified. They company builds it and they then look at it and go “hmm… that won’t work” and give the consultants even more money to change it.
“oh we better pretend we’re doing something. We’ll open a civil case, not criminal. Just give back some money.”
Can anyone who is a bit accounting savvy explain their annual accounts to me? The accounts state that it has an exemption under the companies act to not produce an audited set of accounts, and there is no profit and loss statement. The accounts also state that it had 3 employees and virtually no assets (about 5m of debtors i.e. no office leases, no IP, no cash). How would a company like this pass a vetting process, even a basic check to be handed a multi-million pound contract.
I can’t imagine the company will have many assets left. They will need to sue the directors – I hope they win, but I doubt they will.
There’s too many Tory MPs caught in fraud and scams. Surge and London capitol finance is one of the biggest frauds in UK history. Yet so few have heard of it.
Sue?!? … She should be in fucking jail along with the politicians who gave her firm VIP lane access!
Animals!!!
So next they’ll be sueing and prosecuting for the £49.898 billion that was defrauded right?
Prison is the only thing the rich fear.
This grubby woman needs to be charged.
And who the fuck is going to Prison? Baroness Mone? Oh wait, she’s an elite-nothing will happen, let’s carry on. Don’t forget to vote, peasants!
Government cleaning up its own mess and will claim other parties are the problem.
Government to sue and will spend millions of tax-payers money on lawyers and recover none of the money. A lot of MPs are lawyers aren’t they?
Good. Now do sunaks chums, his wife’s firm, a
Oh and Hancock and his 60mil profit from track and trace.
Does that extend to prosecuting the ministers and senior government Tories who signed it off ?
We do not comment on matters that are the subject of ongoing legal proceedings…
Wow that’s convenient isn’t it..
This was a case of theft through deception. It has to be paid back and the perpetrators have to be punished especially those who gained the most.

Didn’t we lose £4 billion on useless PPE?
£122 million seems a bit low?
