Incredible they went from hero’s to not being worth a pay rise in just 2 years.
Tell you what the government are pretty good at propaganda the amount of pricks online claiming it’s “unaffordable” and parroting everything the government say.
Which, you know, is the point. Hollow out public services until they no longer operate effectively, sell it off to the private sector, tory donors get rich while the service remains poor only we pay through the nose, but can’t take it back into public hands because “it would cost too much”.
Its happened in other sectors, now its the big one.
19% is obviously never going to happen but to not negotiate is just awful, look at Scotland the gov sat down and they hit an agreement. 7-8% with a 4% reduction in hours worked, thats way off the 19% but looks like its going to be fully accepted.
So why the fuck can Westminster not sit down and negotiate, this take it or leave it approach they’ve taken is nuts.
Also, think about it, 19%, its expected that would cost about £10bn to the tax payer, now they get quite a bit of that back automatically in the taxes that would come back but lets say it really would e 10bn. Strikes me as odd they could find 30bn when they needed it to fix the Truss fuck up.
Its really a question of priorities, if NHS workers where a priority this wouldn’t really even be much of a debate. This whole thing simply sends a signal that this government doesn’t give two fucks about the NHS and those who work in it.
“Beginning of the end”??? Years of governmental neglect and purposeful mismanagement, but this is the beginning?
Maybe if their payrises had been kept in line with inflation for the last decade+, they wouldn’t be seeking such a large payrise now. Turns out that when people face a massive financial crisis and economic recession – after already having seen effective pay cuts for over 10 years – the jump needed to bring them back to stability gets bigger.
It’s almost like running the country into the ground doesn’t leave it on the best footing for handling a crisis. Who knew? /s
Isn’t that what our government wants? To end the NHS? looks like their plan is working perfectly 😔
Sunak saying he’s prepared to weather the strikes . Of course he is, he’s rich as fuck. Doesn’t affect him
Simply unaffordable.. cave in to one sector on strike, cave in to all… UK borrowing costs on the open market will rocket. Public sector debt will spiral out of control & then the UK will really will be trouble..
