My friend has a name with a spelling that he deems awkward. Nobody can pronounce it correctly. He is a citizen of Belarus and currently a student in VU. Has anybody changed their name without changing the legal status (e.g. no marriage, divorce, change of nationality etc.)? Is it easy? I am asking because the [Migration web site](https://www.migration.lt/change-of-a-name-and-surname-of-the-person-in-lithuania) states that a certificate of the record of civil status act is required, but in his case, the only thing he can provide is a written declaration of his intention to change his name. Thank you in advance for the tips!

Contact migration office and ask them. Even if they won’t know, they probably will know where to direct your friend.
If he’s a citizen of Belarus, shouldn’t he change his name there, not in a temporary (in the legal sense) country?
Just out of curiosity, can you write that name?
Simple thing to answer, how you think our migration can help with changing name on Belarus doccuments. Most likely no how
