>The Met said Gabrielle Hutchinson, 23, died in hospital early on Monday.
>She was working as one of the contracted security providers for the event that evening
Before anyone jumps in to blame her, she was working. What a horrible night this was.
Awful.
I hope there is not any obstruction to finding out what really happened and why. I don’t want there to need to be a Justice for Brixton Academy campaign in the way that the families of Hillsborough victims had to wait a generation for some limited form of justice.
Died due to other people’s greed. What a waste of life. Condolences to her family and friends. RIP
People in other threads were very defensive of the o2 saying the crush was entirely the crowds fault. I felt it was too early to say this.
If their staff members are killed the o2 absolutely have questions to answer.
It’s quite scary how easily this kinda thing can happen. Must be a fucking awful way to die too knowing there’s fuck all you can do about it.
This is honestly a tragic disaster, first a mother of two and now a 23 year old doing a shift. The person still in hospital is 21.
Before all the dogehistlers come along it goes without saying, the dickheads who turned up without tickets and tried to barge their way in have blood on their hands.
However I’m also pretty convinced the venue/organisers/management have fucked up somewhere for this to escalate this badly. This show sold out 3 days in 5 minutes. Most likely a ridiculous amount of scalping, dodgy reselling. Wouldn’t be surprised if many managed to bribe security or sneak in somehow (I know people who attended who said many outside had tickets.) And then of course the catalyst being X number of people turning up to try their luck, big restless crowd outside and it spirals out of control.
I hope the investigation can shed some light and this sort of thing never happens again
Had that many people without tickets not tried to force entry she wouldn’t have died as they regularly have enough security for gigs
I think anyone who blames a crowd of people for something like this needs to have a think.
Go to any football stadium. What do they have? Turnstiles.
Because people have known for a hundred years that if you get a large and enthusiastic crowd of people together they will go fucking bananas at the drop of a hat.
Crowd control cannot be put down to individuals within the crowd, no matter how badly behaved they were. I’m not saying the O2 has blood on its hands, but whenever this happens it’s the people in charge of managing the crows who are to blame. The O2 may have genuinely believed their protocols were sufficient.
Thats been proven naive. Get turnstiles on the door. Hold a memorial. Lets make venues like this crush proof.
Seems like a lot of these deaths are super delayed. Why is that happening?
Everyone found to have gained entry or tried to gain entry without a ticket should be prosecuted.
Every single person who is in that crowd that forced their way into the building is responsible for the deaths of these people.
They should ALL be rounded up and prosecuted.
They had no right to be there and they knew it.
It doesn’t matter that they couldn’t get tickets or whatever.
No ticket, no entry.

They all knew that, but a few started and then the others followed. This behaviour needs to be discouraged or it will just keep happening.
Who ever sold those people fake tickets has blood on their hands
All that showed up with no tickets and went inside should be charged with manslaughter
The only people to blame are the people who tried to storm the venue without tickets
If you don’t have a ticket and the gates don’t have extra don’t push your way in you selfish fucks
I think the smartest move for anyone is to wait for a full investigation for the full facts to come out. The most prominent crush event in history The police ended up trying to cover and those in power tried to cover it up blaming the public and it ended up actually denying the families justice for decades. If anyone’s familiar with the Hillsborough diaster.
If the thing about tickets being sold multiple times is true, then we really need to consider legislating to prevent these scummy resellers from doing it
Man I was just there last month and I had a great time rip
How about rather than blaming police or security we use the CCTV footage to identify people clearly pushing who don’t have a ticket and charge them?
It is their actions, no one else’s, which have resulted in these deaths.
Similar events happened at the football final here a few years back and again in Paris recently.
These peoples sense of entitlement has deprived others of their life.
If you didn’t have a ticket there is literally no reason for you to be even at the venue, let alone actively pushing to get in.
Identify. Charge. Throw the book at them. This would stop overnight.
Just a quick safety tip for anyone who ends up in a crush or packed area. Put your arms up like a boxer in front of your chest. Also flow with the crowd, don’t try to stop the movement you feel as crowd wave surges cause a wave effect and trying to stop it causes more danger. This can potentially save your life in this situation.
If you’re somewhere like a door entry way, narrow hallway etc avoid the sides. If there’s a turn wherever you are that’s walled off avoid the inner corner, stick to the outside.
This person who’s died is not a woman. They’re nonbinary and use they/them pronouns.
No matter what you think about gender issues, please respect them in death. Now isn’t the time to be making a point about pronouns. Just refer to them as they’d prefer be referred to.
Too sad. May their dear Souls rest in peace.
It makes me wonder though.
How many people on benefits or striking.. or too strike afforded to attend this Concert.?
I had to find somewhere to post my deepest condolences. It’s so horrific that these two people lost their lives in London attending and working at a concert. It’s was supposed to be a time for joy. Now two families are going into Christmas with unimaginable losses. Two children without a mother this Christmas! It’s just heartbreaking.
RIP to Rebecca and Gaby. I’m so sorry this happened to you.
