It seems the government has some cards left to play in the negotiations with Engie to keep the nuclear plants open.
I don’t like agreeing with Engie, but if you follow this circuit you know this increase is disproportional. In several points, the calculation adds negative future factors but chooses to omit the positive future factors. Government has been known to slack on their duties aswell.
The “company bad, Engie bad” rhetoric is not always needed.

Dit kadert uiteraard in een ideologisch verhaal en dat is ook af te lezen aan de reacties hieronder. Wil men de nucleaire industrie verder subsidiëren door de factuur voor de toekomstige berging nog eens terug te schroeven? Wil men luisteren naar de olielobby, de autolobby, de landbouwlobby enzovoort die in dezelfde hoek zitten of wil men de kaart trekken van groene en hernieuwbare energie, openbaar vervoer, natuurherstellende landbouw enzovoort. Wie deze laatste thema’s belachelijk, wollig, woke enz. vindt, sluit zich doorgaans aan bij de liberalen of de bruinen en geeft een overeenkomstige commentaar
Huh, almost like privatizing power is a really bad idea, weird.
We urgently need small modular reactors….
They can only win.
If they fight this and lose, they are back where they started. If they get a compromise, it will be better than where they are now.
There is literally no incentive for them not to fight this. So they will, and they should.
