Hello Greece! I am very active on Find a Grave, making memorials and adding photos for family, friends, and strangers. I went to high school with the doctor’s daughter Maria. She committed suicide in 1982 at age 14 in Ohio, USA. I found where her mother is buried (in Ohio) but despite Maria’s name being on that headstone, the cemetery tells me she is not buried there.
On Find a Grave one can link one memorial to another, parents to children. I still remember Maria so I made her and her mother memorials and want to link them to Maria’s dad.
Dr Hionis’ obituary says his body was taken to Kefalonia for burial. I made a memorial for him without knowing the name of the cemetery (which we are not supposed to do). I’m asking if anyone could find out where he was buried. I can then ask them to add that cemetery to Find a Grave (there is currently no cemetery in Kephalonia on the memorial site). At that point, a willing person could photograph the cemetery entrance for that page. Of course I’d love a photo of the doctor’s grave and would love to help anyone interested in creating memorials for others. But that is extra. The name of his cemetery is the essential part.
It occurs to me that maybe his daughter Maria was cremated and buried with him.
Here is his obituary:
Dr. Marinos D. Hionis, 94, of Aventura, Florida passed away peacefully on July 27, 2021. He was born on July 26, 1927 on the Greek island of Kefalonia. Although poor, he became a leader amongst his peers from a young age. After completing two years of service in the Greek Navy, he attended the University of Athens School of Medicine. He then came to the United States to complete his residency in ophthalmology. During this time, he met his first wife, Eva Sophia Athans. During his long career in Euclid, Ohio, Dr. Hionis was honored not only for bringing sight back to so many, but also by multiple societies for his philanthropic work including his “free eye exam day”. He also upgraded and equipped the ophthalmology department in the Argostoli hospital and established a prestigious scholarship program in Kefalonia for promising high school graduates from the region. He always lived life to the fullest. He especially enjoyed swimming in the sea, playing backgammon, travelling, and getting together with his many friends. He is preceded in death by his wife Eva and daughter Maria. He is survived by his second wife, Joanna Stefanakis Hionis; his children, Roxane (Sean Janzer) and Dimitri (Hilarie); and his grandchildren, Lia, Marina, Niki, Marinos, and Peter. A memorial service will be held in September in Cleveland Heights, Ohio. He will be buried in his beloved Kefalonia. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to either Medecins du Monde- Greece (MdMgreece.gr) or to the Scholarship fund in Kefalonia (Syndesmos Filologon Kefalonias-Ithakis via syndesfil@yahoo.gr)

According to this article, https://www.kefaloniapress.gr/topika/article/391741/efyge-o-omogeneis-diasimos-ofthalmiatros-marinos-chionis/ (in Greek), he was from Atsoupades (https://goo.gl/maps/V5mzH6QprV2isATLA), so most likely was buried to a cemetery there.
Doing a google search I found that there is a book about his life, https://yorgos-spiliotis.com/shop/marinos-hionis-the-child-who-changed-his-destiny. I think the book is from 2010, but maybe if you contact the author you might get the information you seek.
