Imagine all those bright young faces rocking up to BAE’s doorstep, the energy of their hopes and dreams for the future dazzling all who pass by them. And then slowly, surely, some sensation of “wrongness” is made manifest within them. They turn, only to realise, horror descending on them, that they’re probably going to be living in Barrow-in-Furness.
