Big up to Neville. We need more people to speak up and take action
Incoming stick to punditry/football/don’t mix politics and sport comments. whilst Darren Grimes is bringing the Falklands into the World Cup
I have no issues with sports people being political.
Gary Neville is way off here. He’s taken huge sums to be a puppet for Qatar. He claims that the kafala system has been abolished (which it legally has) but ignored that the real life experience is no better for migrant workers. To then say that UK workers rights as needing comparable attention is just delusional and disgusting. UK workers aren’t dying by their thousands in unnecessary workplace accidents. UK workers aren’t having their passports confiscated and being locked in a compound. There’s a fair argument nurses are underpaid, and the work conditions and staffing levels need sorting, but it’s honestly not comparable to the Qatar state he’s talking up.
The guy has done some good stuff (opening his hotel for free during COVID), but he’s well off on this, and the worst bit is he must know he’s being hypocritical.
He’s only saying this to whatabout over Qatar’s legit slave labour if you watch the clip
Sellout prat
Didn’t he say something along the lines of going there allows him to shine a big light on the issues.
I don’t think he’s done much of that tbh. Could have stayed home lad.
lol, what a wastrel trying to deflect away from the money he made in Qatar presenting and doing that “positive” documentary for them
He’s not without his contradictions , having accepted the money to cover the Qatar World Cup, but his 30 seconds will have done far more to raise awareness of these issues than his absence, shouting from Twitter ever could.
On the whole he’s one of the good guys. If 30p Lee Anderson (six Bob knob) hates him, he’s getting it right.
Why does everybody and their nan feel like we should impose our belief systems on other culture. You don’t agree with the way Qatar runs society? That’s fine, but don’t go there trying to make them run it in the same way that your country does.
Imagine if the Qatar football team came to play in England and demanded we change our laws to abide by their religious beliefs. You’d all object and protest against it. This is quite literally what westerners are doing in Qatar right now.
Stop worrying about what other countries and cultures are doing and focus on your own.
30pLee has had a proper meltdown on Twitter. It’s not gone well.
“Not being threatened by a 19% pay rise for zero skill workers is the same as slave labour and executing gays” Gary Neville 2022
Everyones all for this but when there are human rights violations and people dying build stadia its “keep politics out of football”.
The usual hypocritical ex-footballer with shit for brains, desperately trying to stay relevant.
What has bumface ever done for his home town bury, I’d guess fuck all
Treatment of nurses in the U.K. = wrong
Treatment of migrant workers and gay people in Qatar = wrong
Trying to draw moral equivalence between the two, primarily as a deflection technique =also wrong
Well he could have kept quiet but didn’t, seems a case of dammed if he did and dammed if he did and like Rashford getting all the abuse over his campaign for school dinners.
It’s the way of the morality police these days, they’re all hypocrites without the spine to stand up for their own values. Gary Neville is happy to accept their ‘blood money’, and the England team pussied out of taking yellow cards.
If you abandon your values at the first hint of any real challenge, then it’s time to reflect on whether those are your values in the first place.
Just wants to be an mp, already thinking about elections guarantee it.
I bet the government are loving watching the working class arguing over whether Gary Neville is a hypocrite for standing up for low paid workers while they trouser boatloads of public cash
