[Poland & LGBT] Ipsos for the oko.press: It is becoming more and more common for young people to declare that they are LGBT. What do you think this stems from?

  1. “Fashion”, lol. It’s not “fashion”, ffs. Also, PiS and konfa check out, just like 60+. So do the churchgoers. Nihil novi sub sole.

  2. So it’s older people, religious people and rural people who simply do not understand this and view it as a threat, while LOCAL YOUNG PEOPLE LIVING IN CITIES do not view it all as a big deal.

The culture war is a fucking myth, it’s just a rural-urban and young-old divide, and surely we can find compromises. Old people can be homophobic on their own, and rural people can have their heteronormative communities (so long as they accept that they will lose young people).

  3. In summary:

    – Young, urban, left-leaning, atheists are pro-LGBT
    – Old, rural, right-leaning, churchgoers are anti-LGBT.

Not a huge surprise. It’s probably the same in every country.

  4. When something is shown in films and music it becomes ‘popular’ and people start to embrace it think that is normal. The second reason is that it is being pushed a lot in the past years, unfortunately it is not only about accepting the different people…

  5. Any sor of homphobia is rooted in outdated religion influenced stereotypes
Young people are less susceptible to that

  6. LGB, and partly T declarations stem from no longer worrying about discrimination. The rest of T, and Q+ from fashion and narcissism.

  7. Just a couple of hours in, and already got two Word_WordNumbers accounts spewing hateful, homophobic bullshit in comments. How utterly predictable.
