Eh we kind of have our own issues that make us unworthy to join their little club, but the reasons they give (or should I say lack of such reasonings) makes me wanna puke. The thing they do is just to delay the inevitable join of us in Schengen. We meet the technical criteria for joining and knowing what the majority of people here will inevitably attempt to point out to my stupid face, I will just say this, if 25 countries have said we can join, despite the aforementioned issues, maybe we are good enough to join

As much as I don’t like to admit it not joining Schengen is probably for the best as otherwise the country would bankrupt almost instantly.
Membership in the Schengen Area is a privilege not a right. If some of the members feel that Bulgaria hasn’t made the necessary reforms, then they are free to block it 😏
As much as I would like to avoid the hassle to go through customs every time I come home from Brussels (which is 4-5 times a year), they are right.
We are not ready and this is precisely why there is a way to block entry, rather than having just a set of requirements to meet (which we have met).
Corruption is present in every country in the world, but here it is absolutely out of control. The people that need to stop the criminals are on the criminal’s pay roll. We are an external border for the EU. Imagine that border being ran by the mafia and having no subsequent checks for illegal goods.

Love how our little kids over here don’t understand that Schengen means we can travel without borders to Romania and Greece and not get checked at airports.
These fellas don’t realize this doesn’t mean they will remove the border with Turkey….
As you can see from all the doormats rushing to explain to you that Bulgaria actually deserves to be left drowning on the bottom of the pool, we are a nation of grovellers, self-saboteurs and self-haters. They think that if they grovel enough the nice people up west will give them a medal, and the medal will say “Not Like The Other Bulgarians”.
