Social media has done one unexpected thing – revealed just how many people are either stupid or very gullible, or both. And it’s far more than you’d have thought even ten years ago.
Loss of all trust in government among some fraction of the people is a natural consequence of having had a “lockdown” in the first place. That has no bearing on whether it was necessary or not, but either way we’ll be paying the price for many years to come.
The ones setting the narrative are as guilty as those making the threats.
In 1938 Orsen Welles broadcast a play based on HG Wells “War of the Worlds” despite constant “on air” warnings that it was fiction, all across the United States, listeners reacted. Thousands of people called radio stations, police and newspapers. Many in the New England area loaded up their cars and fled their homes. In other areas, people went to churches to pray. People improvised gas masks.
A large portion of society are incredibly gullible and stupid, this has always been the case, social media is just the latest medium to illustrate this.
Yeah it’s not a “lockdown”, but it’s still a fucking stupid scheme which limits people’s freedom and autonomy. They’re right to be angry.
The fact that death threats are not acceptable does not make the proposed scheme acceptable.

This is what [Stochastic Terrorism / Scripted Violence](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lone_wolf_attack#Scripted_violence) looks like.
