Can the NHS actually collapse? Cliffs & Jenga towers collapse. But seems like NHS will decay rather than collapse – the most urgent patients will still be treated promptly but that pool shrinks, and non-urgent queue grows but *eventually* you get treated.
Nhs has been collapsing for 20 years. No doubt we’ll be saying the same thing in 2042 regardless of whatever govt is running things.
I pay £110 a month for private healthcare for the 5 of us, I’d rather see an additional optional NI band of 10% or a fixed £200 a month that offers priority treatment. The money made from this will pay for thousands of clinical staff and shorten waiting times for everyone, rather than go to shareholders of aviva (and I say that as a shareholder of aviva)
I think that decay is the correct wording, as it won’t collapse but just fail to provide good care
I have been feeling this first hand as a GP but now the amounts of patients that get booked in although they have had a road traffic collision, acute chest pain etc. But don’t want to go to A&E due to wait.
The number of patients deteriorating on long waiting lists is another huge change that has been worsening over the last few years.
We are fully in decay and looking at what’s coming…it’s going to get a LOT worse, especially this winter
This is entirely what the Government want, they don’t want the NHS they just know that it’s political suicide to kill it off. If it they let it fail people will be much more open to the idea of private healthcare.
This has been the Tory’s plan all along. Starve the Beast. Defund it to the point of collapse and then sell it off.
For certain demographics the NHS has actually already collapsed and is effectively no longer functional.
The tories are trying to make you angry enough at the NHS so when they fully privatise english healthcare without our consent we won’t string them up.
I think it may be approaching civil unrest time guys. Grab y’marching boots.
They have been saying this every winter for 30 years nearly. Its just fake news as useual.
Always remeber the golden rule.
Never believe anything you read online even if its from a well known paper or media company.
How do we spend so much fucking money on them and they still can’t get shit done
government pushing it to collapse, then getting media to promote this fact to expedite it.
The NHS is about as bad as I can remember at the moment. Particularly for lower level issues. Partner needed treatment for something yesterday, not urgent enough for A&E, but needed to be seen. GP phone line was engaged for an hour, called 111, said they would call back 2 hours later. They phoned back 14 hours later, at 1am, by which time we had long since booked an online private GP appt for £50.
I feel bad for the doctors and nurses and staff in the thick of it, I can only imagine it’s a total shitshow.
If the government does not pay, then you could look at it as they have got their way into allowing the private sector to sweep in and the NHS will be drastically downsized and then we are truly screwed. They get away pretty much scot free, either way. If they do! RIP NHS
This is all part of the Tory party plan to gut the NHS. They want to force everybody to private medicine.
Just as my own example, am currently waiting on an ADHD appointment as was lucky enough to be referred. The wait time is 65+ weeks. I was referred back in October 2021, so still a bit to go
While this is ‘okay’ for me, as am already older and missed a lot of important things in life already (I may have aspergers, or ADHD, but something isn’t right) but if someone was hoping to get their kid seen and the help they may need before it was too late…grim.
It is pathetic. The service is fucked and the tories refuse to pay the wages. They expect people to stay in a shit service for shit pay. Not to mention the need to be able to actually recruit new staff.
Purposeful system wide neglect, no not neglect that is too kind a word. Sabotage.
