Keep telling ppl to “eat cake” – worked wonders last time 👍
Work colleague up in Sheffield was telling me about how Bulb Energy (on behalf of Octopus Energy) were sending ‘Energy Specialist Consultants’ around their area knocking on door to door offering people advice on how to deal with the cold and cost of living crisis.
Thats the same Bulb who will incur a cost to the taxpayer to the tune of £6.5 BILLION to bail them out. These companies have no clue about how people live. The stakeholders and senior management teams at these companies are so out of touch with reality that they actually think doing door to door advice is actually going to make a difference.
£30 a fortnight, now triple that so she’s on £180 a month of electricity alone?!
Some of these figures that are getting published are absurd for two people, to the point that I don’t believe they’re not hyperbolic.
Awful situation our society is in that a basic need can’t be met or is struggling to be met.
Let the Tories be known for letting the bodies pile high during covid and the survivors to freeze.
We’re on pre payment, 3 bed semi. Currently using about £25 a week for electric which has been manageable. Gas was fine until the last few weeks. We managed to use £70 of gas this past week! Topped up £40 on Thursday evening and we’re already down to £28 today. Heating has barely been on, an hour in the morning and same again in the evening. Had a couple of very uncomfortable nights where it’s been -6 but we’ve not had the heating on because it’s too expensive
Energy companies are not going to offer sympathy to customers, not sincerely at least. If you cannot pay or you are just unable to top up your meter, they will treat you like dirt because they are only interested in profit. If they cared then they would be happy to pay a windfall tax or they would pass on record profits to the consumer. As much as their adverts like to make out that they really care about us right now, they will cut you off without a second thought.
Just today I read MPs advice on how to save energy. All the tips we already do anyway. If I get one more rich person telling me how to be poor I’m gonna lose my shit
Perhaps they could of offered within less than a week.
Possibly many others in the same position.
Give credit for the free energy.
It wod be great if you could have cooked for 5 days at your neighbors.
I’m burying my head in the sand, ostrich like, but I know a huge bull elephant is coming.
