Folkestone protest: Channel migrant deaths spark safe routes demo

  1. Why would anyone go through all that trouble to get to the UK? I would at least pick somewhere warm, and all countries have black market job opportunities. I don’t see the big draw.

  2. This is a French problem to solve. It looks bad for the government but there’s very little they can do.

I’m not persuaded opening application centres in France will dissuade crossings, why take the chance when you can definitely get to the UK by crossing in a boat?

  3. The safest route is to turn every boat around and escort them back to France. If everybody knows they aren’t going to get a free ride here then the numbers will drop. They should then be able to apply for asylum whilst in France and brought over safely if accepted

  4. The law EU, denotes one MUST seek asylum in the first safe haven, failure to do so equates to being an economic migrant & your claim in a 3rd country can be denied. UK law also states it’s a criminal offence to enter the UK via boat from France (a safe haven). These do gooders need to focus on British problems.
