I’m sorry but what the fuck? These twats should just be heavily fined for such dumb shit. They’ll think twice about phoning 999 after a £1000 fine.
If you actually need to be told this then there really might be no hope for you.
It’s also been mentioned (on radio not in the article) that elderly citizens have taken to ringing it for the sake of conversations and having company. FFS
Thank you for calling 999 here is a £1000 fine for wasting the time would sort that in 2 weeks
I’m against fining people for calling 999 unless they are repeat offenders that have been caught.
> Do not be one of those people – we don’t want to know that your pizza has not been delivered.
Just for arguments sake, if its pre-paid, and it never shows up, haven’t you been robbed? As in, dishonestly deprived of property (a pizza)?
Not saying calling 999 over a fucking missing pizza is alright, but also. If they have enough time to be hassling people for smoking a bit of pot…
They way Ive heard it, dont bother calling 999 if youve fallen down the stairs and broken your hip either. Aint no one coming to help these days.
I can only imagine somebody doing this while mentally ill in some way?
Yeah yeah of course it would be us northerners, the thing is I don’t think you understand how much of an emergency it is when I have specifically ordered my pizza to come at 7 o’clock and not a minute after its disgusting!
Fine people or shut the fuck up. The kind of people who phone up for this shit aren’t going to read this article
Who else are you meant to call. This is a serious matter
I swear they put out stories like this to make you feel bad for calling 999 at all, no one who isn’t a fucking idiot or mentally ill is ringing 999 for a takeaway and I can imagine it doesn’t actually happen enough to warrant a massive speech about it.
that’s a 111 situation, the police are still more likely to turn up than if it’s a burglary though
This sounds like it is a temporary situation, and once they have enough capacity again, they are happy to take your complaints about takeaway.
The headline is misleading
The issue is when people have their takeaways/deliveries stolen.
Of course they shouldn’t call 999 but they should be able to report it because this is a growing issue and it’s largely unreported. Lmao some people literally commenting here they should go to prison (wtf!)
‘Reveller’ is a weird word to describe someone ordering a pizza
How these things happen I will never know but I attended a 999 call refer for somebody who had cut his finger on a Pot Noodle. So I made a twenty mile blue light run in freezing conditions for nothing, what a waste of an ambulance resource.
THIS IS LIE, NORTH YORKSHIRE IS PERFECT, BLAME WEST YORKSHIRE PLZ.

Oh for goodness sakes.
Just hire more police.
Problem solved. You’re welcome.
