> He also criticised Mr Varadkar and the Coalition leaders for their handling of the fall-out from the Oireachtas Golf Society controversy during the Covid pandemic which resulted in Mr Hogan resigning as EU trade commissioner.
>Mr Hogan said Mr Varadkar and then-Taoiseach Micheál Martin followed a “populist wave of indignation” and did not “actually analyse anything” before stating in the days before his resignation that he should “consider his position”.
You went to a party during one of the strictest lockdowns. I’m sure your buddies (at the time) were doing it too but you were the one that got caught. Pity about you. Go cry into your massive pension, cunt.
We definitely shot ourselves in the foot with Hogan when it came to Europe.
There was some amount of pearl clutchers, most of them having flouted the rules.
*Indoor events will be reduced from 50 people to just six people, except for businesses such as shops and restaurants.*
They had 81 at the dinner… Unless I am totally missing something that would have been in violation even before the new rules.
So it was “regrettable” that he actually faced the consequences of his actions? Fuck off Leo.
My mother was in a nursing home and we didn’t get to see her throughout COVID. Until the days before she died.
I saw her once before she passed.
There were 10 people at her funeral, the loneliest, most sparse funeral I’ve ever attended.
People couldn’t even pay their respects at the funeral home due to the restrictions.
Fuck Phil Hogan. Fuck Dara Calleary. Fuck every single person that broke the rules and attended Golfgate. I’m glad they lost their jobs.
Thousands of families lost loved ones throughout the pandemic and thousands of people didn’t get a proper funeral or ‘send off’.
Phil Hogan has his pensions, he can shut the fuck up.
Yeah they should really stop trying to justify this. Maybe (and i dont know now) by the letter of the law he did nothing wrong? But when you frame that against people dying alone in nursing homes that doesn’t matter a single bit. How do they not have a single PR person to tell them that?

What I have seen people forgetting is that they announced new [COVID guidelines](https://www.rte.ie/news/coronavirus/2020/0818/1159878-virus-press-conference/), effective immediately, on 18-Aug-2020 and the golf dinner happened the very next day on the 19th. That’s why people were so outraged.
