Micheál Martin: The unflappable Taoiseach who became unexpectedly popular

  1. How can anyone write this kind of shite with a straight face?

Unexpectedly popular? Amongst who? Aren’t FF’s polling numbers as low as they’ve ever been

  2. Journalists love brown-nosing the government because it gives them a chance at landing a lucrative job as a spin doctor for the government.

  3. Can just picture Michael Lehane standing in front of a picture of mehole Martin with 1 hand on his hip, cock in the other, wearing a pair of argyll socks ,Manchester City Blue y fronts,a string vest with a medal of st Jude pinned upon it

  4. Articles like this make it awfully hard to argue *against* RTE being government propaganda. I generally don’t believe it is quite that blatant, but this certainly *looks* like it.

  5. Calling him “popular” is like the bit in – I think it was – The Sopranos where your man dies and it’s his funeral Mass and the priest is like “would any of his friends like to say a few words?” and nobody does.

Eventually some buck is prevailed upon to go up, and he looks around the congregation nervously and the only nice thing he can think to say about the deceased is “his brother was worse”.

  6. “At a time when we’re telling you how scary Sinn Fein is, isn’t it nice to be told how much you really love the Taoiseach?”

  7. Won’t lie, I initially read this as “unfappable” and while I’m heterosexual, I’ve never been one to shy away from a challenge

  8. Martin is liked, because he’s a fundamentally decent person. I’ve never voted FF in my life, but he brought in the smoking ban, despite huge opposition, guided the country through COVID, lives a modest lifestyle, lost two kids and kept going. When you compare other countries, he’s ok. Yeah there’s a huge housing problem, but that’s going take multiple governments to sort.

  9. Seems like a decent man to be fair, has been through some horrible trauma and kept going, cant agree with his politics mind.
