The only question is does this mean nothing, ie Rishi wants a thorough update, or is this a first indication by the Rishi gov of less support for Ukraine.
For those who couldn’t understand why Zelenskiy was worried about Boris stepping down – this is why.
Id be alarmed if this wasn’t done as routine in situations like this. Spending of taxpayers money should always be subject to audit, and that includes the outcome of such spending.
In all fairness he wouldn’t be doing his job if he didn’t ask the question.
And let’s remember he’s a bean-counter by trade. Old habits die hard.
If he didn’t initiate it then the opposition should have demanded it and really for that kind of spend we should all expect transparency and oversight controls anyway.
Hopefully the audit will show that the Ukrainians have used our weapons to disarm and degrade Russia so Our Boys won’t have to, which is a priceless victory for all parties on our side of the fence.
Presumably Boris guaranteed huge post-war rebuilding contracts for the UK which should show economic validity.
Slava Ukrani.
Where’s Sir Starmer on this?

Rightly so. I wouldn’t be surprised if it uncovers a cesspit of bribes, kickbacks and theft of tax payers money while our most vulnerable are barely holding on.
Yes it’s not like Ukraine weren’t consistently voted the most corrupt country prior to the war
Review covid contracts no way too early for that. Review support for country at facing existential threat yeah let’s get on it.
Inevitably some of this money will be misspent as it’s always a case during war and crisis situations but this doesn’t make it ineffective Ukraine the only think that is bleeding Russian ability to fight elsewhere. Their sacrifices are what keeps the rest of Europe safe and ensures Putin won’t try to go elsewhere next for a long time. Least we can do is keep giving them ability to continue to fight
Interesting. Is he planning to scale back aid for Ukraine?
Because the war doesn’t look like it’s ending anytime soon.

“I blame Putin for starting a war that does nothing to redress Russian long term security concerns. But the truth is that politicians in the West are equally keen on this war. Boris Johnson yesterday was blatantly promoting it for his own survival. Anybody who makes any effort to stop the killing – Presidents Macron and Erdogan in particular – are immediately and universally denounced by the “liberal” media.
Yet what is the end result that the liberal warmongers wish to achieve? When we reach the stage that Henry Kissinger is a comparative voice of sanity, the political situation is indeed dire.”
