Do you still buy the Guide at Christmas?

  1. Not once in my 40 odd years have I bought the RTE guide.

I think my mum did up until a few years ago.

The same age old ritual of circling a bunch of stuff to watch for the few days around christmas… Then she realised just about everything she wanted to watch is OD services and live TV is pointless for most people.

  2. No, not for many years now.

God it was great, going through it to see what the Christmas movie was and being excited because RTE didn’t play ads on Christmas day, is that still a thing?

  3. For some reason they stopped putting “Bill Cosby’s Winning Formula” in it and I haven’t bought it since

  4. Yes! I buy it just at Christmas, mainly to see what’s on BBC as I rarely watch Rte. Its fun to get out the highlighter and circle what I want to watch, even though I know most of it is on demand or I’ve seen it already on Sky. For me (in my 40s) it’s part of Christmas.

  5. Don’t even have a tv service so there’d be no point. I wouldn’t mind having an aerial installed (you don’t want to watch a World Cup on RTÉ Player) but it’s very low down the list of priorities.

  6. We do, just for old times sake. Some good stuff otherwise that I’d miss, usually late at night. At least two of those covers are from St. Patrick’s Day though
