When the New Testament was translated to Finnish in 1548, Mikael Agricola coined thousands of new words. One of them was the word for lion, *jalopeura*. (Noble deer) Of course no one had ever seen a lion so they had to operate by biblical descriptions.
I’m almost sad that we ended up using the Swedish loan word *leijona* instead. 🙁
Is he also teaching that Sverige means Three Crowns in Swedish?

I’m pretty sure that during the last U20 games another commentator told him that Suomi means Finland in Finnish since he was wondering why is it in their shirts. He also mixed it with Sisu which sort of means courage and relentlessness.
