I had really hoped they weren’t siblings, I cannot imagine the absolute anguish their parents must be feeling right now, losing two children at once. And so close to Christmas.
Not sure I’ve been this effected by a news story since Sarah Everard, just a complete tragedy.

The news is absolutely dreadful at times. Family is going through enough as it is without hundreds of articles every day. It’s nobody’s business except theirs.
Absolutely awful events and even more awful knowing that it’s likely many of us will have done the exact same thing at some point and just been lucky the ice didn’t cave.
Absolutely heart breaking. No words
absolutely heartbreaking. Kids just being kids, being excited for the cold weather and Christmas. Can’t imagine the anguish of losing a child.
Heartbreaking, there’s going to be unopened presents under the Christmas tree this year.
Jesus.
Has it been said how/why they were on the frozen lake in the first place? All I’ve seen is talk about people trying to rescue them, idk how it happened in the first place
Rest in peace 🙁
I hope that this awful awful event means that the dangers of frozen bodies of water are more widely spoken about now. My thoughts are with the families, friends and the wider community
Couldn’t even finish article, trying not to cry on the train. My heart is broken for the families. Rest in peace beautiful boys 🕊️
I cannot begin to imagine how the family feel, how horrific. Those poor children.
News like this really puts trivial things into perspective doesn’t it.

I am in tears over this. The fact that Jack died trying to rescue the others is heroic.
Also hats off to the amazing response of the Emergency services, especially the Police Officer who risked his own life trying to punch through ice with his fist.
I have no words, only tears.
Is there a go fund me for the parents I’ve never gave money before but I feel compelled to do so to help them and to show compassion. What an absolute tragedy for that family. X
Heart wrenching 💔😢
How absolutely awful for the family. I can’t imagine how horrendous they feel.
It must be awful for the emergency services who did everything they could to rescue the children. Drowning and hypothermia kill so quickly that there’s likely nothing that anyone could have done when they went in.

An absolute tragedy. Sympathies to all their relatives and friends. Puts my own problems into perspective. Shows the need to educate children on the dangers of open water whether frozen or not. God bless those four young lads.
Imagine risking your life jumping into a frozen lake and fucking up your hands smashing up the ice and still not getting the sort of acknowledgement that people who can run fast or get paid millions to kick a ball about get.
So my question is… Where were the fucking parents? What were 4 minors doing running around a frozen lake? Parents are at fault and an investigation should be opened into negligence. I understand how distraught the families of the bereaved must feel especially at this time of year but so many people are skipping past the point that a 6yo was left unattended to run around a frozen lake. Tough questions need to be asked here.
RIP boys, one of you got in trouble, the others tried to help. That’s what hero’s do. Such a waste of young life but your families will be so proud.
“Friends say the four children were playing around the icy lake on Sunday when one of the boys’ legs fell through.
According to one friend, the other three children fell into the water as they attempted to help him.”
What sweet sweet children god I’m bawling
Yeah this is like The Worst news for any family. I don’t even Want to think about it
Is there somewhere to contribute towards funeral costs? I cannot imagine going through this in one family let alone paying for 3 funerals in one family. Thanks
Blimey that’s so terrible. I can’t even imagine what the family must be going through right now. It’s tragic. Absolutely tragic.
Not sure if i’m crying because i’m mentally unstable or because i’m human. Either way, tears are rolling down my face.
Fuck.
So many horrible emotions with this. I grew up near amazing rural areas and explored and it truly added value to my life. To think those kids doing the same as me have died because of it.
Sadly I think we’ll have the people arguing “kids need to get outside” but at the same time now arguing “where are the parents”. I hope this doesn’t descend to a total shit show as I fear it will be.
Words can’t describe how horrible this is. I hope the families can…I mean what, cope? Accept? I just hope they get the support they need
This, and the story of refugees drowning in the channel were posted around the same time on the LBC Facebook page. One was greeted with sad emojis, the other with laughing emojis. Welcome to the mindset of the United Kingdom.
This is beyond tragic for the families of those boys. For the two little ones that went to feed the ducks and the two older ones that desperately tried to save them. True heroes. It is so unbelievable tragic, as everyone is putting presents under trees and living the magic of Christmas one family have lost three of their children and one family their dear boy. I can’t comprehend what those families are going through and how you cope with seeing their presents that they will never open. Instead of the magic of Christmas, they will be arranging funerals. My heart goes out to them a million times over.💔
Utterly tragic and you wouldn’t wish the pain and suffering on anyone…but…
Loads of reports about how police waded into the water and breaking through the ice to try and rescue them…where the hell were the parents? I’ve not seen any reports of their parents attempting to save them.
If one of my kids fell into a lake, I wouldn’t care if it was covered in ice or filled with sharks I’m going in there after them without a seconds hesitation.
Surely the four kids didn’t go out on their own?
I hope the police and local authorities are asking some serious questions as to how and why this happened because it sounds like they were just out wandering around without any parental supervision.
Ok, so even if they had a parent with them, it’s hard to imagine any parent being so utterly ignorant of the dangers that allowing their kids to walk out onto a frozen lake seemed safe.
As a parent it makes me so angry that this needless accident was allowed to happen.
Why the Christmas thing? losing any child at any time is despair upon heartache.l should imagine that Christmas pales into insignificance for these unfortunate parents.Let their god give them some peace over the coming weeks though l fear peace will be in short supply for them.

Stuff like this hits even worse now I have a two year old. I just think in my head you can teach your kids about the dangers of things but at some point you let them go play by themselves and hope they listened to you.
I think back on all the things I did as a child and I’m sure it would make my mum’s hair stand on end if she knew.
Those poor parents, their kids would have been gearing up for Christmas. Utterly heartbreaking.
It’s interesting to see how different sources report on the same thing.
Skimming Sky News: “Hm, I have no idea what happened. Some kids fell into a lake. Football managers pay tribute. What is happening?”
Skimming BBC: “Oh, frozen lake, took a long time to rescue, oh man what a shame”
First three lines gave the context!
Didn’t one of the lads jump in to try to save his friends? If this is the case; as immensely sad and horrific this is, what a selfless act.
(I’m trying to word this right so not to sound callous. 😳)
Actually the fourth kid didn’t even know the other three boys he just ran to help. Honestly our whole community is broken by this. My kids school are tying ribbons to the fence today for them and have a book of condolences which my kiddo has wrote in today. Although some people have been making horrible comments for the most part the support the families have been shown by the local area is amazing. We had people taking hot food and drinks to the emergency services and rescue workers as they was here for a few days. We also have a candlelight vigil tomorrow night. These young boys will never be forgotten by the people that live in Kingshurst and surrounding areas.
Such a sad story … especially close to Christmas. Poor families – can’t imagine 🫤
Innocence of youth playing out in the snow & ice … life can be so cruel at times
