People aged 16 and 17 are able to change their legal gender in Scotland now. Should we do this in Ireland too? You can also apply after 3 months instead of 2 years.

  1. Maybe someone else has a good reason not to, but I don’t see why the concept of legal gender even exists. I’d say get rid of it and just let people identify as whatever they please regardless of age.

  2. If its just on paper and they can identify as whatever gender they feel comfortable with, then yes. If it involves surgery and hormone treatment, then no. They can wait the other 2 years for life altering surgery, 18 is the minimum age for a lot of heavy life decisions.
